Vamanam Therapy is a medicated emesis therapy, which means patients are made to vomit in order to remove Kapha toxins accumulated in the body. The procedure is done by applying heat to the region of the chest and back to liquefy the Kapha, followed by the consumption of a special medicated drink to stimulate emesis.
The toxins are eliminated through the upper gastrointestinal tract, and the therapy is continued with ghee treatment and a steam bath.
It is recommended that the treatment be done in the season of spring, because that is when kapha tends to get more aggravated and becomes easy to identify and rectify.
